Opportunity for a FM "Radio For People" project

Broads, 14.08.2007 20:21

Important, time-sensitive information on starting a FM radio staion!
www.radioforpeople.org

Hey everyone-

Have you heard about this "Radio for the People" project? It sounds like an amazing opportunity for Midwest/Milwaukee.

We received this email from a customer who is new to the city & looking for people/groups to work with:

"This October, the FCC will "open the floodgates" so to speak and will accept applications for low-power community FM stations. There is a website/organization called Radio For People which has more info.  http://www.radioforpeople.org

I hear a lot of the groups applying for these licenses are right-wing Christian radio groups, but this is really our chance to have a really great station in Milwaukee that represents and showcases SE Wisconsin's diversity."

If you are interested in also working on this project please contact us and we can give you their email address. If you're looking for more information Democracy Now! just had a piece on this over the weekend.

Because of the reorganizations happening at the store, Broad Vocabulary cannot take on this project at this time but would love to see it happen. I'm sure if/once the station was launched we could help (but that of course will be up to the new management).

Good Luck!
Broads
