Dear Milwaukee activists, organizers, radicals, and students,

Please join Milwaukee Students for a Democratic Society on Thursday, November 8, 2007, for a discussion with Mark Rudd at 7pm in the UWM Fireside Lounge. Admission is free and open to the public.

As chairperson of the Columbia University chapter of Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) in 1968, Mark Rudd was one of the leaders of the Columbia student strike against the Vietnam War and racist university policies.

Rudd was the last National Secretary of SDS, in 1969, and a founding member of the Weather Underground, a revolutionary guerilla group in the 1970s. He was a federal fugitive for seven and a half years, until 1977. He is currently a peace activist and teacher in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Rudd was featured in the 2002 documentary film The Weather Underground, which was nominated for an Academy Award. He is also the inspiration for a fictional character in the recent film Across the Universe.
