We, as a community of compassionate individuals, are called to take action when those in our community face obstacles and challenges. Through this compassion, we are called to action on behalf of the workers at Capital Returns. Who would have believed that right here in Milwaukee we would find a taxpayer subsidized company being run like a plantation. Imagine coming to work every day for an average wage of $9.00 and hour and being exposed to mystery pharmaceutical substances in powder, liquid, or any other imaginable forms. How about being searched every time you have to go to the bathroom, or being forced to perform your data entry job standing up and having your chairs removed from your department? These are just a few of the oppressive conditions that employees at Capital Returns are faced with every day.

Unconventional Action Chicago on the Anti-RNC Organizing Conference
he Coalition to March on the RNC and Stop the War, which is made up of a number of liberal and socialist organizations, is calling for a weekend planning conference on February 9th in the Twin Cities. At this conference plans for the September 1st (un?)Permitted March will be discussed, debated, and possibly finalized. Actions throughout the week of the RNC will also be discussed. Unsurprisingly the Coalition of liberals and socialists is requiring that anyone attending the conference be a member of a group that has endorsed the March.

Let’s get on with it! : Milwaukee Anti-RNC Consulta Report Back
From November 9th through the 11th 60+ people visited and participated in a Consulta to disrupt/crash/shut down the RNC from locales ranging from Grand Rapids Michigan to the Twin Cities. The form of the event was informal, with most of the time spent hanging out and getting to know one another, perhaps seeing some of the faces that may be covered the next time we meet.

New and prevailing enthusiasm continues to add energy to the Cream City Collectives. Over the last year the Milwaukee Screen Printing Collective has become active in the space teaching silk screening workshops and holding open hours for those interesting in using its resources. An anarchist and anti-authoritarian discussion group was started and has been active for the last couple of months. A number of community groups currently use and have used the space for meetings and various organizing, from the River West Co-op to the new Milwaukee Food not Bombs that was recently resurrected. The space continues to exist to provide a space where people can hang out without the ever-present burden of having to spend money, find information, learn and develop skills (with as much possible being free or sliding scale).
Two banners were dropped tuesday morning during rush hour in the Riverwest Area of Milwaukee. They read: "choose your own adventure" and "destroy the election" encouraging an anti-political alternative to the spectacle of the 2008 US presidential election.
